Privacy

Short version: The Foundry has no accounts, sets no cookies, and runs no tracking or ads.

What stays in your browser

Your theme choice, BBS handle, caller number, and settings (baud rate, sound, CRT effect) are saved in your browser's local storage so the site remembers you on this device. They are never sent to us. Clear your browser's site data to erase them.

Chatting with the sysop

When you chat with the AI sysop, your handle and the recent messages of that conversation are sent to our server and on to Anthropic's Claude API to generate a reply. The Foundry does not store chat messages. Anthropic processes them under its own commercial terms and privacy policy.

To prevent abuse and control costs, the server counts messages per visitor per day using a one-way hash of your IP address combined with a secret that changes the hash daily. Raw IP addresses are not stored. Counters are kept for rate limiting only.

Hosting

The site is hosted on Microsoft Azure, which may keep standard server logs for operating the service.

Changes

If ads or analytics are ever added, this page will be updated first, and you will be asked for consent where required.
